What is a Thread Lift?

A thread lift procedure involves injecting fine surgical threads beneath the deepest layer of the skin, known as the subcutaneous layer. The treatment can address sagging skin in the midface and jaw area without using incisions or anesthesia. It is known to create a more vibrant appearance without any scarring or lengthy downtime. Patients are able to avoid the risks of surgery while achieving revitalizing results that enhance confidence and restore a positive self-image.

The treatment is popular because it provides an immediate lift while at the same time stimulating new collagen production for long term structural support. Collagen is a vital protein in the body that gives the skin its elasticity, fullness, and hydrated glow. Throughout the aging process, this important compound is exhausted, giving the complexion a hollow and dull appearance. A thread lift is highly regarded for its ability to rejuvenate the skin from the inside out.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

  • Cheeks and midface
  • Jowls, jawline, and lower face
  • Brows
  • Neck
  • The area around the eyes
  • Mouth corners
  • Nasolabial folds

What Is The Thread Lift Procedure Like?

The thread lift procedure usually only lasts about 30 to 90 minutes and can be completed without using general anesthesia, decreasing the risk of complications. During your session, the threads are inserted into small incisions and then attached to the underlying tissue, lifting the sagging contours to create a tight, smooth facial aesthetic. This procedure provides an immediate lift. After the threads have been cut, they remain below the skin’s surface, and any scarring is invisible.

What Are The Benefits?

  • No incisions or anesthesia
  • Minimally invasive with little downtime
  • Lifts drooping skin in the midface and jawline
  • A good alternative to conventional facelift surgery
  • Treats fine lines and wrinkles
  • Addresses poor skin texture and tone
  • Results can last up to 4 years
  • Improves the patient’s self-image

Thread Types

Barbed Threads

Barbed threads are used to lift sagging cheeks, restoring youthfulness. These threads trigger collagen production to strengthen the skin’s substructure.

Smooth Threads

Smooth threads can be crisscrossed in a pattern that replenishes collagen reserves. This process results in stronger, tighter skin while minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Who is a Good Candidate?

Patients dealing with early signs of aging who desire the results of a surgical facelift without the pain, recovery period, and surgical risks may find what they’re looking for in a thread lift. Ideal candidates for this procedure are non-smokers in good physical and mental health who have pragmatic expectations for the outcome of the procedure.

What Can I Expect After The Treatment?

Following a thread lift procedure, it is normal to experience some mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort. However, these after-effects are mostly only noticeable to the patient and their practitioner. They can be managed and tolerated with painkillers and Arnica (a homeopathic remedy). Strenuous activity, such as vigorous exercise, should be avoided for 2 to 3 weeks. Patients that have important events on their calendars should schedule the thread lift at a time that will not interfere with public appearances. The threads are gradually absorbed over a period of about 9 months.

When Can I See My Results?

Results generally appear quickly following the procedure. The skin begins to look more youthful and lifted with a more aesthetically appealing tone. With time, collagen production accelerates, strengthening the skin’s structure from within and tightening the pores.
