Elegant Nose Refinement

As the focal point of the face, the nose plays an important role in terms of balancing the features and creating a bridge from the smile to the eyes. Those dealing with a disproportionately large nose, or other aesthetic issues such as an unshapely nasal tip or large nostrils, may find rhinoplasty to be an ideal solution for their concerns. The procedure can provide a more elegant, youthful look and a significant uptick in self-confidence.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical treatment that redefines the shape and size of the nose to address cosmetic or functional issues. As every patient has their own unique goals, the surgery is highly customized and bespoke. The techniques used are specifically tailored to suit the unique anatomy, aesthetic tastes, and desired look of each client.

A rhinoplasty can be performed to correct:

  • The size, length, and width of the nose
  • Noticeable bumps or dents on the nasal bridge
  • The nasal tip (large, bulbous, drooping, or upturned)
  • The nostrils (wide, large, or upturned)
  • Asymmetry
  • A dorsal hump

Types of Rhinoplasty

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

Here, the objective is to give the nose a new aesthetic that better matches the other facial features. The procedure focuses on treating issues such as a dorsal hump, a bulbous or drooping tip, or flaring nostrils. Once the nose is given a new look and shape, it functions as a liaison between the smile and the eyes, enhancing overall attractiveness. While the primary goal is never purely functional changes, breathing may be less restricted after surgery.

Functional Rhinoplasty

Functional rhinoplasty aims to remove blockages in the nasal passageways, resulting in improved breathing and sleep. This surgical procedure can treat a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates, and other issues. While surgery is primarily designed to address structural issues, there are some cosmetic benefits as well. Many patients choose to combine their cosmetic and functional rhinoplasties to achieve an overall higher quality of life.

Ethnic Rhinoplasty

Ethnic rhinoplasty is designed to treat nasal issues in patients of various ethnic backgrounds. The goal is to correct issues in the nasal tip, bridge, and nostrils while preserving the patient’s unique heritage and ethnic background. Patients of Middle Eastern, African, Asian, and Hispanic descent can all benefit from our customized approach. Patients today have more options than were previously available, as surgeries of the past often focused on achieving results best-suited for patients of European descent.

Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty is a procedure to correct or enhance the outcomes of a previous nose job. In some cases, the plastic surgeon may have removed too much cartilage and bone, resulting in structural collapse. There is also the possibility that the original changes did not do enough to meet the patient’s goals. Regardless of the situation, patients must wait at least a year before judging the final outcomes of the procedure, as any remaining swelling in the area can distort the nasal shape.

Rhinoplasty Techniques

Open Rhinoplasty

The open technique involves making a small, well-hidden incision across the columella at the base of the nose. With this approach, the practitioner is able to address cosmetic issues in all areas of the nose with enhanced precision. It is the ideal approach for those requiring in-depth structural reshaping.

Closed Rhinoplasty

With the closed technique, on the other hand, no external incisions are needed to complete the surgery. The practitioner is able to make modest corrections by way of the nostrils. This approach is best suited for patients who need small adjustments and are looking for a scarless procedure.

Who Is A Good Candidate For Nose Surgery?

Patients struggling with structural or aesthetic flaws in the nose can undergo rhinoplasty with stunning results, provided that they are in good physical and mental health, have no major medical conditions that could complicate the procedure, are non-smokers, and have pragmatic expectations for their outcome.

What Is The Recovery Like?

Thanks to our board-certified surgeons' meticulous attention to detail and precision-based techniques, most patients do not consider rhinoplasty to be a painful procedure. The recovery period can range anywhere from 7 to 14 days. The nasal splint is removed at the 7-day mark post-op.

Recovery Timeline

  • A supportive splint is placed on the nose during the first week
  • Patients are required to sleep with their heads elevated above the heart
  • Sutures are removed about one week into the recovery process
  • Bruising and swelling noticeably dissipate about seven to ten days post-op
  • After about a month, patients should be able to get back to more strenuous activities
