Youthful Neck Lift

When patients seek out anti-aging treatments, the first procedures that come to mind typically address the face. Many patients overlook the role that the neck plays in presenting a youthful aesthetic. Aging in the neck can manifest as sagging skin, vertical lines, or a double chin. While some devices now exist that can achieve temporary skin tightening, a surgical neck lift is considered to be the only way to accomplish dramatic, lasting changes that genuinely rewind the clock.

What is a Neck Lift?

While many cosmetic surgery treatments are designed to treat the face, no anti-aging plan is complete without a protocol for the neck. Loose skin combined with fine vertical lines, wrinkles, and creases can draw the gaze away from the smile and the other features, compromising the patient’s overall attractiveness.

A neck lift works by extracting excess tissue, tightening the platysmal bands, and reducing submental fat. When performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, a neck lift has the ability to improve a patient’s self-image, giving them a new-found sense of security in how they look.

The procedure employs advanced, innovative technology that smooths out and redefines contours in the neck, delivering natural-looking results that can take several years off of the patient’s appearance. Patients can undergo additional cosmetic treatments with their neck lift, such as a facelift or blepharoplasty.

How is a Neck Lift Performed?

With a neck lift, incisions are typically made beneath the chin or within the folds of the ears, extending upwards into the scalp to keep them obscured from view. The surgeon extracts redundant skin, removes pockets of fat, and tightens the platysmal bands.

In some cases, neck liposuction may be performed in order to provide additional sculpting for bulky contours. On average, a neck lift procedure can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours to complete, depending on how much work is needed and whether any additional procedures are performed simultaneously.

Who is an Ideal Candidate?

It goes without saying that patients seeking a thinner, firmer neck appearance with less sagging and folding will enjoy the outstanding benefits of a surgical neck lift. This remarkable procedure has the ability to restore a strong, supple profile that exudes youth and beauty.

Good candidates for the procedure are non-smokers in good physical and mental health that are free from any serious health conditions. They have realistic expectations for the outcome of the procedure. We will conduct a thorough examination and review of each patient’s medical history in order to ensure that a neck lift is a safe, viable option.

What Can I Expect From My Recovery?

Following a neck lift procedure, patients will need to enlist the aid of a friend or family member to drive them home and take care of them for the first 24 hours. Upon returning home, patients will need to keep their heads elevated for the first several days.

Swelling, bruising, and soreness are all common side effects, but prescription pain medications, antibiotics, and an individualized aftercare plan can ensure that the patient is comfortable throughout the healing process.

In most cases, patients are able to get back to work and their other daily activities within the first 2 weeks, provided that their job is not physically strenuous. Patients should refrain from engaging in heavy exercise for at least 4 weeks.
